About Us

WARE is a professional photo and profile gallery that spotlights foster children in the state of Washington who are waiting for adoptive homes. Our website allows us to quickly and efficiently connect in-state caseworkers with Washington families who are seeking to adopt. We are the only adoption exchange serving exclusively the state of Washington.

A partnership between the Northwest Adoption Exchange (NWAE) and the Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), WARE began originally as a photolisting book in 1995. Our first paper edition featured 113 waiting children, and 80 families hoping to adopt. In 2005, we transitioned successfully to an Internet website.

Today, we feature over 450 waiting children each year. We also provide resources, tips and tools for Washington workers and families, including a photo and profile gallery of families with approved Washington homestudies.

We invite you to get to know our staff, to explore the foster care and adoption programs of the NWAE, and to read compelling adoption stories (coming soon) that we have gathered from the field.

In order to protect the privacy of the featured waiting children and families, our photolisting pages are accessible only by logging in to your account.
